देवी अष्टकम्
Eight verses praising the Divine Mother in all her forms. Recited for spiritual power and divine grace.
When to recite: Navratri, Friday, Devi temples, daily
नमो देव्यै महादेव्यै शिवायै सततं नमः। नमः प्रकृत्यै भद्रायै नियताः प्रणताः स्म ताम्॥१॥ रौद्रायै नमो नित्यायै गौर्यै धात्र्यै नमो नमः। ज्योत्स्नायै चेन्दुरूपिण्यै सुखायै सततं नमः॥२॥ कल्याण्यै प्रणतावृद्ध्यै सिद्ध्यै कुर्मो नमो नमः। नैर्ऋत्यै भूभृतां लक्ष्म्यै शर्वाण्यै ते नमो नमः॥३॥ दुर्गायै दुर्गपारायै सारायै सर्वकारिण्यै। ख्यात्यै तथैव कृष्णायै धूम्रायै सततं नमः॥४॥ सर्वप्रसादिनी देवी शान्तिरूपिणि माम् कुरु। क्षेमाय भगवति शिवे सर्वप्राणेश्वरि नमः॥
1. Salutations to the Devi, to the Mahadevi, to Shiva always — salutations; Salutations to the auspicious Prakriti (Nature) — we bow to her always. 2. Salutations to the fierce one, to the eternal one, to Gauri, to the sustainer; To the moonlight, to the one who is the moon, to happiness — always salutations. 3. We bow to the auspicious one, to the one who increases our prostrations, to Siddhi; Salutations to the Lakshmi of those who bear the earth, to Sharvani (Parvati). 4. Always salutations to Durga, to the one who takes beyond difficulty, to the essential one, to the doer of all; Salutations to the glorious one, to Krishna (the dark one), to the smoky one. 5. O Devi who is gracious to all, make me into a form of peace. For well-being, O Bhagavati, O Shiva, O ruler of all life — salutations.
