श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि।
बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु, जो दायकु फल चारि॥
बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार।
बल बुद्धि विद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस विकार॥

जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुन सागर।
जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर॥१॥
राम दूत अतुलित बल धामा।
अंजनि पुत्र पवनसुत नामा॥२॥
महावीर विक्रम बजरंगी।
कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी॥३॥
कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा।
कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा॥४॥
हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै।
काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै॥५॥
शंकर सुवन केसरीनंदन।
तेज प्रताप महा जग वंदन॥६॥
विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर।
राम काज करिबे को आतुर॥७॥
प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया।
राम लखन सीता मन बसिया॥८॥
सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा।
विकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा॥९॥
भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे।
रामचंद्र के काज सँवारे॥१०॥
लाय सजीवन लखन जियाये।
श्री रघुबीर हरषि उर लाये॥११॥
रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई।
तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई॥१२॥
सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं।
अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं॥१३॥
सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा।
नारद सारद सहित अहीसा॥१४॥
जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते।
कवि कोविद कहि सके कहाँ ते॥१५॥
तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा।
राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा॥१६॥
तुम्हरो मंत्र विभीषन माना।
लंकेश्वर भए सब जग जाना॥१७॥
जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू।
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू॥१८॥
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं।
जलधि लाँघि गये अचरज नाहीं॥१९॥
दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते।
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते॥२०॥
राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे।
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे॥२१॥
सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना।
तुम रक्षक काहू को डरना॥२२॥
आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै।
तीनों लोक हाँक तें काँपै॥२३॥
भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै।
महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै॥२४॥
नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा।
जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा॥२५॥
संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै।
मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै॥२६॥
सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा।
तिनके काज सकल तुम साजा॥२७॥
और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै।
सोई अमित जीवन फल पावै॥२८॥
चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा।
है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा॥२९॥
साधु संत के तुम रखवारे।
असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे॥३०॥
अष्ट सिद्धि नव निधि के दाता।
अस बर दीन जानकी माता॥३१॥
राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा।
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा॥३२॥
तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै।
जनम जनम के दुख बिसरावै॥३३॥
अंत काल रघुबर पुर जाई।
जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई॥३४॥
और देवता चित्त न धरई।
हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई॥३५॥
संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा।
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा॥३६॥
जय जय जय हनुमान गोसाईं।
कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं॥३७॥
जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई।
छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई॥३८॥
जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा।
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा॥३९॥
तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा।
कीजै नाथ हृदय मँह डेरा॥४०॥

English Translation

Doha (Couplet):
Cleansing the mirror of my mind with the dust of Guru's lotus feet,
I narrate the pure glory of Raghuvara, which bestows the four fruits of life.
Knowing myself to be ignorant, I remember the son of the Wind-god;
Grant me strength, wisdom and knowledge, and remove my afflictions and impurities.

Chaupai (Verses):
1. Victory to Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue,
   Victory to the Lord of monkeys who illuminates all three worlds.
2. Messenger of Rama, the abode of incomparable strength,
   Son of Anjana, known as the son of the Wind-god.
3. Great hero, mighty as thunder, companion to the wise,
   Remover of evil thoughts.
4. Golden-hued, beautifully adorned,
   Wearing earrings, with curly locks.
5. In hand a thunderbolt and flag shine,
   Sacred thread of munja grass graces the shoulder.
6. Son of Shankar, delight of Kesari,
   Radiant with great glory, worshipped by the entire world.
7. Learned, virtuous, supremely clever,
   Ever eager to perform Rama's work.
8. Devoted listener of the Lord's deeds,
   Ram, Lakshman and Sita dwell in his heart.
9. Taking a tiny form you appeared before Sita,
   Taking a terrifying form you set Lanka ablaze.
10. Taking a mighty form you slew the demons,
    And accomplished all the works of Ramachandra.
11. Bringing Sanjivani you revived Lakshman,
    And Raghuveer joyfully embraced you.
12. Raghupati praised you greatly,
    Saying: 'You are as dear to me as my brother Bharat.'
13. Thousands of mouths sing your glories;
    So saying, Sri Pati clasped you to his heart.
14. Sanaka and other sages, Brahma and other gods,
    Along with Narada, Sharada and Sheshanaga.
15. Yama, Kubera and the guardians of the directions —
    Even learned poets cannot fully describe you.
16. You did a great service to Sugriva,
    United him with Rama and gave him his kingdom.
17. Vibhishana followed your counsel,
    And became the lord of Lanka — all the world knows this.
18. Thousands of yojanas away stood the sun;
    You swallowed it thinking it a sweet fruit.
19. Carrying the Lord's ring in your mouth,
    You crossed the ocean — no wonder in this.
20. All difficult tasks in the world,
    Become easy by your grace.
21. You are the guardian at Rama's gate;
    None can enter without your leave.
22. All joys are found in your shelter;
    With you as protector, who need fear?
23. You alone can contain your own power;
    All three worlds tremble at your roar.
24. Ghosts and evil spirits cannot approach
    When the name of the great Hanuman is uttered.
25. All disease and pain vanish
    For one who constantly chants Hanuman's name.
26. Hanuman frees one from all troubles
    For those who meditate on him in thought, deed and word.
27. Ram is the king of all ascetics;
    All his works you accomplished.
28. Whoever comes with any wish to you
    Obtains the abundant fruit of life.
29. Your glory spans all four ages;
    Your fame illuminates the entire world.
30. You are the protector of saints and sages,
    Destroyer of demons, beloved of Rama.
31. Giver of the eight siddhis and nine nidhis —
    Such boon was given by Mother Janaki.
32. You hold the elixir of Rama's devotion;
    Ever remain the servant of Raghupati.
33. Through your devotion one attains Rama
    And forgets the sorrows of countless lifetimes.
34. At the end of life one goes to Raghuvara's abode,
    And is born again as a devotee of Hari.
35. Worshipping no other deity,
    Service to Hanuman brings all happiness.
36. All troubles cease, all pain ends
    For one who remembers the mighty Hanuman.
37. Victory, victory, victory to Hanuman, the master!
    Bless me as the divine teacher.
38. Whoever recites this a hundred times
    Is freed from bondage and attains great joy.
39. Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa
    Attains perfection — Gaurishankara is witness.
40. Tulsidas is ever Hari's servant;
    O Lord, dwell in my heart.

Son of the Wind, remover of troubles, auspicious form,
