English Translation
The seer of this Shri Rama Raksha Stotra mantra is the sage Budhakaushika. The deity is Shri Sitaramachandra. The meter is Anushtup. Sita is the Shakti. The glorious Hanuman is the linchpin. The purpose is the recitation for the pleasure of Shri Sitaramachandra.
Meditation:
Meditate on Ramachandra — with arms reaching to the knees, holding bow and arrows, seated in the lotus posture, wearing yellow garments, with eyes rivaling fresh lotus petals, serene; with Sita seated on his left lap with meeting eyes, dark as a rain cloud, adorned with various ornaments, wearing great matted locks.
The story of Raghunatha (Rama) spreads over a hundred crore verses;
Even a single syllable destroys the great sins of men.
Meditating on Rama, dark as a blue lotus, with lotus eyes,
Accompanied by Janaki and Lakshmana, adorned with a crown of matted hair,
Holding a sword, quiver, bow and arrow, the destroyer of night-roamers,
The unborn, all-pervading one, who appeared to protect the world through his sport —
Let the wise person read this Rama Raksha, destroyer of sins, fulfiller of all desires.
May Raghava protect my head; may the son of Dasharatha protect my forehead.
May the son of Kausalya protect my eyes; may the beloved of Vishvamitra protect my ears.
May the protector of the sacrifice protect my nose; may the one fond of Saumitri (Lakshmana) protect my mouth.
May the treasure of knowledge protect my tongue; may the one worshipped by Bharata protect my neck.
May the bearer of divine weapons protect my shoulders; may the breaker of Shiva's bow protect my arms.
May the husband of Sita protect my hands; may the conqueror of Parashurama protect my heart.
May the slayer of Khara protect my middle; may the refuge of Jambavant protect my navel.
May the lord of Sugriva protect my waist; may the master of Hanuman protect my thighs.
May the greatest of the Raghus protect my upper legs; may the destroyer of the demon clan protect me.
May the builder of the bridge protect my knees; may the slayer of Ravana protect my shins.
May the giver of prosperity to Vibhishana protect my feet; may Rama protect my whole body.
Whoever, being meritorious, reads this Rama-strength-filled protection:
He will have long life, happiness, children, victory and humility.
Those who wander in the underworld, on earth and in the sky in disguise —
Cannot even look at the one protected by Rama's name.
Remembering 'Rama', 'Ramabhadra', 'Ramachandra' —
A man is not stained by sins; he obtains enjoyment and liberation.
Protected by the Rama-name — the one mantra that conquers all worlds —
Whoever wears it at the throat has all perfections in hand.
