Padma Purana — Indra's hymn to Mahalakshmi
The Mahalakshmi Ashtakam is an eight-verse hymn from the Padma Purana, traditionally attributed to Indra praising Mahalakshmi after she rescued the gods from the demon Kolasura. Each verse addresses a different aspect of the goddess — as Mahamaya, as the destroyer of demons, as the granter of siddhi and buddhi, as the Primal Shakti, as the embodiment of supreme Brahman. The phalashruti promises all siddhis and lasting sovereignty to the sincere devotee.
