Maa Bambleshwari is the most revered deity in the Rajnandgaon region. The temple is extremely popular in Chhattisgarh and neighboring Maharashtra. It actually consists of two temples: 'Badi Bambleshwari' on the hilltop and 'Chhoti Bambleshwari' at the base.
Mythology
The Goddess is believed to be an incarnation of Maa Bagalamukhi (one of the ten Mahavidyas). According to local legend, the ancient king of Kamakhya Nagari (Dongargarh) built the temple to protect his kingdom.
