चतुर्भुज मंदिर, ओरछा
It is an architectural masterpiece of the Bundela Rajputs. 'Chaturbhuj' means 'one with four arms' (Lord Vishnu). Interestingly, it was constructed to house an idol of Lord Rama, but the idol refused to move from the Queen's palace (now the Ram Raja Temple), leaving this grand temple without its intended deity.
Mythology
Queen Ganesh Kunwari of Orchha went to Ayodhya to bring Lord Rama to her city. Lord Rama agreed, on the condition that he would not move from the first place he was set down. While this massive temple was being built, the Queen kept the idol in her palace. When the temple was ready, the idol refused to move, turning the palace into the Ram Raja Temple, and leaving Chaturbhuj empty.
