Jakhoo Temple is the most famous temple in Shimla, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is situated on Jakhoo Hill, Shimla's highest peak, offering panoramic views of the Shivalik ranges.
Mythology
According to the Ramayana, during the battle of Lanka, Lakshmana was severely injured and required the Sanjeevani herb. Lord Hanuman flew to the Himalayas to fetch the mountain. It is believed that he stopped to rest on this very hill, and the temple is built around his footprints.
