कनिपकम विनायक मंदिर
Kanipakam is extremely famous for the Swayambhu (self-manifested) idol of Lord Ganesha that emerged from a well. It is a very popular stop for pilgrims traveling to or from Tirupati. The Lord is known as the 'Upholder of Truth'—people take oaths here to settle disputes, and it is believed the Lord punishes liars severely.
Mythology
Three brothers (one mute, one deaf, one blind) were digging a well during a severe drought. The digging tool hit a stone and blood started oozing, turning the well water red. The brothers were miraculously cured of their disabilities. Villagers found a stone idol of Ganesha emerging from the water. Even today, the idol is seated in a well full of water.
