नीलकंठ महादेव मंदिर
It is one of the most prominent Shiva temples in Uttarakhand. It is situated amidst dense forests and mountain ranges (Nar-Narayan) at the confluence of the Pankaja and Madhumati rivers.
Mythology
According to Hindu mythology, this is the exact spot where Lord Shiva consumed the lethal poison (Halahala) that originated from the sea during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean). His throat turned blue due to the poison, hence the name Neelkanth (Blue Throat).
